Historical Projects

Throughout my degree I have made a variety of costumes ranging from the 18th century to the 1950's. Each costume has been accompanied by a historical research book to evidence my understanding of events that shaped the era relating to my costumes. This includes advances in fabrics, technology and attitudes. In doing this, it has not only furthered my knowledge of fashion history but also why people wore the things they did. Knowing the reasons behind the fashions gave me a greater understanding of social history including class and gender struggles and social structures.
